We have decided to remove our three iBird HD apps from the store. If you own any of the iBird HD apps (Pro, Yard Plus or Lite) they will remain in the store for you to download anytime. But the apps will not longer be for sale to new customers.
In the next month we will be releasing a new app that will take the idea of High Resolution performance to a much higher level. This new HD app will only run on the iPad, e.g. it is not a universal app like our iBird product line. The new app has extraordinary features that go far beyond any mobile field guide app on the market. We think of it as the next generation of bird guides. This new uber app is designed not to compete with iBird; but rather to complement it. And therefore we won’t be using the iBird name in the app’s title.
We think you will be blown away when you see it. And we can’t wait to release this new app and find out what you think. Of course we have to wait, because the app must be approved by Apple. But we believe it will sail through the review process and that even Apple will be impressed.

iBird Yard Plus HD
iBird Yard Plus HD was the first birding app that Apple featured in its television commercial “We have an app for that”. Designed for the experienced birder, it is similar to Pro except that it does not have as many search attributes. It offers comprehensive identification, behavior, habitat and ecology information, hand-drawn illustrations, professional photographs, range maps, and playable calls for 924 North American and Hawaiian bird species.

- Great birding app for iPad ★★★★★ iBird Yard for iPad is not only a great bird app but a great iPad app as well. The database contains most common birds and displays great information, stunning illustrations, and links to photos on the internet. It is a great way to identify or simply browse for birds especially for a novice like me. - Keeps getting better and better ★★★★★ Hard to believe, but iBird Yard keeps getting better and better. The enhanced illustrations are incredible! The search functionality is the best, and the sound library is outstanding. With iBird series I never carry a “dead tree” field guide out in the field anymore, these are better not only can I do a parametric search, like specifying what state I am in, the primary color of the bird, aand size and iBird then presents me with a list of possible suspects. But it gets better. When looking at a particular bird I can also see “similar” birds, these two features make identification very very easy.
Lastly I want to say that the folks at the Mitch Waite Group are incredibly responsive to feedback. I submitted a few suggestions a while back and I see that most of those were incorporated into this version.
